Candle Care Tips
All of our candles are handcrafted to burn clean and evenly. Following these tips will ensure they are maintained to give you the best quality.
- Allow enough time for the burning of your candle to liquefy the entire top layer. This allows the candle to burn until the pool of wax reaches the full diameter of the candle. By doing this, you will get a longer burn and it will help keep the candle from smoking.
- Burn candles for one hour per inch of diameter. This sets the candle’s “memory” to the edge of the candle, and when you light it in the future, it will “remember” to burn to that point. For most of our candles that will be 3-4 hours that first time.
- For best performance, trim the wick to ¼ inch each time prior to each burning of your candle and extinguish and relight them periodically as they burn to continue that length of wick.
- Place them on a flat, heat resistant surface that is not near anything flammable.
- Extinguish candles with a snuffer to prevent wax from spraying on tabletop.
- Remove any decorative accents prior to burning.
- Do not drop foreign matter, such as wick trimming or matches into the pool of wax.
- Keep burning candles away from drafts, vents and any air currents.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Use caution because containers may become hot during burning; and keep them out of the reach of children or pets.
- Extinguish a candle if it begins to smoke or flicker repeatedly, or the flame becomes too high. Let the candle cool, trim the wick, check for drafts, and re-light. If the problem persists; discontinue use.
- Always burn candles in a well ventilated area.
